Open House is a visionary project rooted in engagement, transparency, and longevity, inspired by Bristol’s industrial heritage and political history. The design re-imagines the traditional parliamentary space, incorporating an elevated timber-louvred chamber and puncturing the building mass to frame and connect Bristol Temple Meads Station with the Floating Harbour and its surrounding developments.

Designed for a 120-year lifespan, the steel frame structure allows for flexibility, deconstruction, and reduced embodied carbon, ensuring future usability by the University of Bristol.
Innovative ventilation systems address air quality and acoustic challenges, emphasizing energy efficiency through mixed-mode ventilation and reversible ground-source heat pumps. The project integrates art and community engagement, creating a landmark that balances modernity, sustainability, and inclusivity in the civic building.
